Love the remix of stan kolev's closer. Sic set. listened to it twice now.
I'm a firm believer that an opening track makes or breaks a mix. And this one is starts out SIC. The tracks to follow definitely follow suit. It might just be me, but I think this mix has a sound found more often in your earlier sets from 07. having said that, this one is a new fav of mine (very memorable). Thanks for posting. -goin straight to cd for the car.
Really diggin this one. The intro set things off nicely, with a delicate and subtle groove, and it goes into a great progression of tunes after. Great choice of closer. Burma is such a classic. -hadn't heard that remix before... = )
Starting off as a "noob" DJ in 2007, San Diego resident James High has quickly become an ambitious DJ and producer. James' musical background dates back 15 years, primarily as a drummer for Jazz & Funk bands in various groups, including State Honors Jazz Band, and Univeristy of Wisconsin.
His love of electronic music has been present since the mid 90's. It only took over a decade to realize it was time to craft his own sound on the decks, and in the studio.
. H!GHL!FE's mixes can vary,
but consistencies are found. Melodies that inflict
emotion, funky basslines, smooth melodic transitions, and strong, driving grooves compliment his unique and varied sets.
"A Night at the Gaslamp," his flagship "lounge style" mix, aired on progressivehouse.com's weekly progcast only a few months after he began. One of his Dance floor oriented mixes on djmix, "Get Lifted 2" caught the eye of stream-fm.com, landing him a short lived residency on Stream-FM.com (RIP).
His first EP, "Balance Point" was released on march 6th with remixes from Art Patrice, and Hernan Cerbello. Balance Point reached #2 on mypromopool.com's top 20, and was well received by the masses. James's upcoming / unreleased singles are available at soundcloud.com/jameshigh.
