I have been saying minimal anything is drawn out and booring since i heard my first track of "minimal" and i see some take offence to that since i am a outcast "trance" dj.. so to prove my point that it doesn't have to be booring, and that its probably the simplest music type to mix, i started the day with zero tracks in this particular field and had no clue what dj's or tracks to even begin looking for..
long story short, I put this mix together in less than an hour and half having NEVER even played the tracks prior to mixing.. and i think most people will agree that there is alot more energy in this "to prove a point mix" than most..
so this is me putting my money where my mouth is so to speak.. d-.-b
*edit... before you go thinking there is NO minimal in here take in to concideration that some of these tracks are being played at +10 things change at +10 thus taking the monotone booring out that i was mentioning..*

Ok.. maybe its written wrong... as it mentions i am in the dark when it comes to "minimal" since my preference is practicaly the opposite side of the spectrum.. (the whole EDM genre structure is confusing as a whole as far as the exact defenition of each one goes to begin with, add in the fact that i have NO music theory and i DID fail music in school) i guess i just losely put them in a "category", thats why i used tech/house/minimal in the "style".. the point is, an entire night of ANY particular style gets booring, if you play in a club make it interesting.. and by mixing it "blind" from the hip using music i have never played just added some assurance to my making the point that it is the easiest music to mix.. so my apologies to the confusion caused..

Ok, this set puzzles me. The title and the narrative both describe this as "minimal", yet I only heard maybe ONE track that could be considered minimal. The rest were all peaktime tech, electro, and techno. Perhaps you are confused as to what minimal and tech house really are? Set was well mixed, though! Listen to my latest set, "Go Tech Yourself!", maybe that will give you a better idea of what minimal and tech house really are. |
