Born on the 10th of May in 1976. The city where he lives is a polycultural metropol. Istanbul plays a crucial role in the the artist’s background that has a rich semi-oriental & semi-european profile.
In 1993, the trio: Özgür Kurcan (aka dEmian), Ege Madra & Ulas Akin founded the psychedelic rock band project called “Siddhartha” with big enthousiasm. Besides being a writer and composer, his main role in Siddhartha was also to play guitars along side with singing. Following 5 years of busy performance schedules: festivals, organisations & concerts, they have released their debut album in 1998 that had its unique psychedelic & progressive rock sound which also consists electronic influences... This experience has also been an opportunity to interact in harmony with different artists and guest musicians such as Nil Karaibrahimgil, Mor Ve Ötesi, Nekropsi, N-Closer, 100 C & Ihtiyac Molasi...
At the late 1999, an authentic electronic sound appeared in Özgür’s works... In 2001, he co-found “Siddharthasound Corporation” with Orkun Öker (aka zE>x). These two music-bind associates made as well motion picture soundtracks and jingles for commercials under the name of Garage Music Productions with Jan Peridar between years 2001 - 2003.
Since 2001, some compilation albums have included his productions and that is when he came along with a stage name: dEmian. Since then he has also remixed many tracks of artists and bands from different genres such as “Aalijah, Abdullah Ibrahim, AgeNT, Age Of Love, Angelo Badalamenti, Aphex Twin, Audio De Lux, Autechre, Bjork, Canan Turan, The Cure, Daft Punk, Darren Emerson, Dead Can Dance, The Doors, Dza, Empirion, Frankman, Future Sound Of London, The Gathering, Goldie, James Holden, Junkie XL, Kylie Minogue, Lane, Libra, Lucky People Center, Milla, Mor Ve Ötesi, Nat Monday, N’Sync, Orbital, The Perfect View, Phish, Pink Floyd, Psilodumputer, Radiohead, Royksopp, Sasha, Serious Danger, Six Speedy, Spellbound, Stereo Nova & System Of A Down...”
The beginning of 2003 was also the beginning of a whole new adventure of djing for dEmian. Deep, progressive & tribal house are the main styles of his sets but some breakbeat, nujazz, funk, idm, electro & techno are also blended in most of the time...
