Marko Nation
Seoul, South Korea

www.myspace.com/djmarkonation
Originally from smalltown USA, Marko Nation grew up in a musical household with the quintessential older bro who turned him on to the rock n' roll of the 70s. In his formative years, however, he went in the direction of electronic music's pioneers, including Kraftwerk, Yello, Thomas Dolby, and the more aggressive sounds of early NIN, Nitzer Ebb, Front 242, and Ministry. With a fresh degree in music technology, Marko went on to be a staff engineer at the legendary Criteria Studios in Miami, Florida, where he continued his studies in the art of recording/producing.

Moving to NYC in the late 90s, Marko got a taste of the incredible club scene in legendary haunts like Limelight, The Tunnel, Twilo, and Sound Factory, and was witness to the real power of dance music. Stepping into DJing felt like a natural progression after years of studio work, playing in bands, and producing electronic tracks in his Brooklyn studio. A complete 180 and a very long flight landed him in Kobe and Kyoto, Japan in 2001, and on to Seoul, South Korea in 2003. It was in these cities that he really began to find his sound and soul as a DJ, and continues to explore the boundaries of Tech/Electro/Funky House to this day.

Marko is just as at home in the superclubs as he is in the deepest underground venues, having inhabited some of the same booths as heavies such as James Zabiela, Timo Maas, Steve Porter, Spirit Catcher, the legendary Rabbit in the Moon, Junkie XL, Derrick Carter, Plump DJs, and Ricky Stone among others. With his high energy Tech/Elektro/Jackin' House DJ sets (in the vein of Deadmau5, Mark Knight, John Acquaviva...) and soon to be available batch of singles, including the tech/funk heavy tracks "Saturday Night Fights" and "Smash and Grab" and his newest tech/prog house tracks "The Beginning" and “Manhattan Calling”, it's just a matter of time until you cross paths with Marko Nation.

Style: Tech House - I'm getting more into the slightly darker Tech with the rolling basslines and rockin' Electro, but I'm more than happy to bust out my funky/jackin' house to suit the event.
Influences: Current faves... Tony Thompson, Lutzenkirchen, Tomcraft, Sound Republic, Kraak & Smaak, James Harcourt, Deadmau5, Troydon, Jaksaw, Chuck Love, Bryan Jones, Lamanex, Tommy Largo, Toby Neal, Mastiksoul, Candy Dealers, Inland Knights, Twocker, Roman Pushkin, DJ Dan, Miles Dyson, etc.
